Information Specification Modification Image Review 2013 porsche 918 spyder
Porsche has unveiled today new details on the production version 918 Spyder set to arrive at the end of September 2013 as planned, with the first customers receiving their vehicles before 2013 is out. The company has also dropped a series of spy shots with the 918 prototype hidden under historical Porsche 917 racing cars. The future 918 Spyder is designed as a plug-in hybrid vehicle combining a high-performance combustion engine with cutting-edge electric motors for extraordinary performance: on the one hand, the dynamics of a racing machine boasting more than 770 hp, on the other hand, fuel consumption in the region of three liters per 100 kilometers. The model will also be offering a full carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque with unit carrier, fully adaptive aerodynamics, adaptive rear-axle steering and the upward-venting "top pipes" exhaust system.

The 918 will hit, and may define, the ultra-performance hybrid market in late 2013. Originally launched as a concept - a show-stealing concept - at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the 918 Spyder was confirmed for production last summer. Garb in production, the 918 is expected to feature the same layout as the concept: a mid-mounted, 500-hp 4.0-liter V-8 engine paired with front-and rear-mounted electric motors, putting out a total of around 718 horses. The electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, the which can be charged via a standard power socket.

Instead of the open-top seen on the concept, the production will get 918 removable, Targa-style roof panels can be pulled off That and stored in the front luggage compartment.

The 918 Spyder will be capable of reaching 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and topping out at 199 mph, all while offering more than 16 miles of all-electric range and the European combined cycle fuel efficiency of 78 mpg. EPA Official figures will be released just before the 918 Spyder hits the U.S. market in November 2013.

If you order now, Porsche will give you, the customer, the opportunity to purchase -- thats right, purchase -- a matching Porsche 911 Turbo S in coupe or cabriolet form! Everyone will know, when they see your special-edition 911 rolling down the street, that theres an even more special Porsche in the garage. Now how much would you pay? How about an additional $160,000 to $172,000.

Creating Sound Vibration Machines Diesel More Smooth with Easy Way

Diesel engine is known as an efficient engine and Fun to Drive (modern Diesel engine air-ECU) because of large torque characteristics since RPM rendah.Hanya just sound & vibration Diesel engines are generally more pronounced than Gasoline engine. But with proper treatment we can actually reduce noise & vibration Diesel engine with quite significant. Several methods that can be done include:

1. Increase Diesel Fuel Lubricating Power (Solar) Power lubricating diesel (Diesel Fuel) is very important, where Diesel Fuel should be able to provide good lubrication to the pump injection diesel engine. For injection pumps in diesel engines is like a compressor which require lubrication for the piston-piston & plunger-plungernya, for piston compressor work is lighter, the plunger-plunger to work more optimally. Power Diesel Fuel Lubricating sometimes be less than the maximum if the Diesel Fuel contaminated with other substances such as water / kerosene / gasoline or if it gets Paraffin Diesel Fuel with a rather low figure. So to increase the power of Diesel Fuel Lubricating can be done by adding a fuel additive that is lubricant / lubrication or use good-quality Diesel Fuel additive containing complete. Lubricating Power Diesel Fuel injection well to the pump will help reduce the workload of the engine in turning the pump injection.

2. Increased Cetane Number (CN) Increasing cetane number with Cetane Booster or use Diesel fuel with a high CN (51-54) will also help improve the combustion process in which one effect will also make the sound & vibration Diesel engines become more ined. With a higher cetane number will make the combustion process becomes more instant alias reduce the length of the combustion process or the so-called Self Ignition Delay (SID). SID is what helped make vibration and noise becomes larger Diesel engines, SID due to the use of Diesel Fuel with low CN (48 or lower).

3. PurgingPembersihan Injector & Nozzle make more perfect carburetion, so that more optimal combustion, influence the vibration machine (See Purging previous article).

4. Replacement Filters Solar In TeraturFilter diesel that has been lightly compressed, will automatically charge participate in the working pump to suck fuel injection, so that diesel fuel filter should be replaced regularly.

5. Use of Lubricant Quality

6. Diesel Engine MountingBagi car that has been aged over 3-4 years or have to travel over 70,000 km engine mounting usually start brittle and somewhat flattened, creating more engine vibration felt in the body of the car. If the engine mounting already brittle / somewhat flattened, then replace the engine mounting. (Note: The age of disposable Engine Mounting each Diesel cars are different.)

2012 Dodge Charger

We added more than 3000 miles to our Chargers odometer in July, recording the busiest month for the Dodge since it arrived in January. A bulk of those miles can be credited to photographer A.J. Mueller who enlisted our Charger to scout a photo shoot in Nashville, Tennessee. During the long trek down I-75, Mueller noted that the Charger is blessed with "amazing, big, beefy seats that let you ride in serious comfort." He also came away impressed by the Dodges frugality over 1400 miles. "The gas mileage was very impressive and the tank never seemed to get down to E." In fact, the Chargers fuel log shows multiple fill-ups of just about half a tank; Mueller and his crew couldnt outlast the massive 19.1-gallon tank. Averaging 26 mpg -- well above the Chargers 23-mpg EPA city/highway combined rating -- they could have covered as much as 500 miles on a single tank.

The other 1600 miles were accumulated in and around Ann Arbor, where our editors couldnt help themselves from commenting on that contentious eight-speed automatic transmission. Senior web editor Phil Floraday kicked it off, writing, "I really wish the gear ratios and shift timing were better optimized for the power delivery from the Pentastar engine." Floraday is talking about our Chargers 3.6-liter V-6. It produces a formidable 292 hp, but it also feels weaker than that number suggests up until 3500 rpm, when it really wakes up. At part-throttle acceleration, the engine cant take advantage of the high-end power. "The Charger seems to upshift just as the engine starts to produce power, then youre back into the sluggish lower end in an absurd effort to save fuel," Floraday complained. "Its perfectly fine to have the transmission upshift early to save fuel, but its not acceptable for that to happen if the engine only makes power in the upper end of the rev range. Id be a lot happier with this car if the engine delivered more torque down low."

Assistant editor David Zenlea has joined Floraday in using the Chargers transmission sport mode as his default choice. "More and more Im noticing that, in new cars, drive is really eco, forcing you to go down to sport if you want downshifts when you expect them," he wrote. Pulling the gear selector into sport mode also better aligns the powertrain to the Chargers cornering demeanor. The Dodge is in a class of one compared to the indifferent-handling competitors in the full-size sedan segment. "I still appreciate how well the Charger steers and handles," Zenlea wrote. "I got into the Charger after a week in a 2010 Mustang GT and didnt feel like I was suffering from handling withdrawal. Its reshing to drive a big, rear-wheel-drive sedan that doesnt snap at you, CTS-V-style, should you get on the throttle a little early in corners."

On the service front, we paid another unexpected visit to our dealer in July to address an airbag warning light that popped up in the instrument cluster. If this sounds familiar, its because we dealt with this same issue just last month. In June, the dealer discovered a loose connector in a wiring harness under the drivers seat, cleaned some corrosion off the pins, and sent us on our way. On this latest visit, the technician diagnosed an intermittent open circuit in the same harness that had just been cleaned. This time around, the connector was replaced under warranty. Were hoping this fix lasts longer.

Volks Wagen E Bugster Concept 2012

  •  Volks Wagen E-Bugster Concept, 2012
The latest Beetle might be more power, less flower, but that doesnt mean that its anything other than environmentally conscientious, and thats especially the case with the Volkswagen E-Bugster Concept, which is powered purely by electricity.

Revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the two-seat VW E-Bugster Concept continues the latest Beetles sporty theme. An electric motor provides 85 kWh of power, which can propel it from 0 to 60 mph in 10.9 seconds, and yet offer a range of at least 110 miles from the 28.3 kWh lithium-ion batteries. Even in a country as large as America, thats sufficient for the majority of commuters needs, while if the E-Bugster needs a top-up, a fast-charging function allows complete recharging in just 35 minutes.

The quick charging is possible thanks to a new Combined Charging System that was developed in co-operation with Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche, Ford and General Motors/Opel. This allows charging via single-phase AC sources (for example a 120-Volt US or 230-Volt European domestic outlet) or via ultra-fast DC sources at specific charging stations. To succeed, this will require the development of a uniform industry standard for sockets and plugs and also for the charge controller, so that all charging types can be handled.

Of course, the Volkswagen E-Bugster doesnt charge only when plugged in: as soon as the drivers foot leaves the accelerator pedal kinetic energy is transformed into electricity and stored in the battery. Applying the brakes increases the intensity of regeneration, a function that is indicated to the driver in the instrument panel. Other instruments include driving range and battery state indicators, and a meter that shows how much energy the driver is requesting via the accelerator pedal.

At 4,278 mm long and 1,838 mm wide, the E-Bugster is the same length as a standard Beetle but 30 mm wider, while the new roof lowers the height by around 90 mm to 1,400 mm. This helps to give the Volkswagen E-Bugster its more dynamic and sporty look. The low, swept-back windscreen ensures maximum visibility, as does the wide rear screen, which shows that speedster-style vehicles need not be impractical.

Both front and rear bumpers have been substantially modified from those of the production Beetle. At the front, LED daytime running lights at the outer edges of the central air intake form a C-shape on the left that is mirrored on the right - a signature feature of Volkswagens electric vehicle concepts. This is also true at the back, where lectors take the place of LEDs. Beneath the flared wheel arches sit 20-inch alloy wheels that are adapted from the 18-inch Twister alloys of the production car, with 235/35 tyres. Around the bottom edge of the side windows is a chrome strip that loops around the vehicle from A-pillar to A-pillar. From this chrome strip to the top of the VW E-Bugsters hard top the height is a low 400mm.

Inside, the two-seat interior lects the E-Bugsters blend of high-tech and sportiness, with sports seats nestling either side of a continuous centre console, plus aluminium door handles and seatbelt guides.

Starting the Volkswagen E-Bugster Concept is pure theatre: upon pressing the Start button the interior is bathed in white light, then blue light. It starts with a light pulse in the instrument cluster, from where the light emanates in a millimetre-wide strip, coursing into the doors and around the air nozzles.

If the E-Bugsters name is familiar, it should be: it takes some inspiration from the Ragster concept that made its debut at the 2005 Detroit Show, and which itself inspired the current Beetle. The E of the name signifies the vehicles electric power, and the Bug part of the name should need no explanation.

Buick LaCrosse 2012

The Buick LaCrosse 2012 is among us for several years, but few people know. Perhaps they remember the Buick Allure, then? Before it is to bear a name whose connotation, Quebec is not the same as elsewhere in America, the Buick LaCrosse 2012 is called Allure in Canada, General Motors did not want to offend some souls too well turned .

Aesthetically, the Buick LaCrosse 2012 does not change this year. But under the hood, it’s a different story! First, note that the V6 is the same, or a 3.6-liter, but its power increases by 23 horses, who do not already missing. At the time of going to press, we still did not have to roll a Buick LaCrosse 2012 equipped with this engine, but we believe based on our past tests with 23 more horses in a stable at 280, it’s a bit like putting a sugar and coffee in a half instead of a quarter.

2011

No alternator Buick LaCrosse 2012

The big news is, however, at the 2.4-liter four-cylinder that has a system with electric assist. Called eAssist, the system uses the principle already seen on the Saturn Aura and Vue and the Malibu hybrid a few years ago. However, each part has been redesigned and is now lighter and three times more efficient. Contrary to popular trend in the field of hybridization which requires an electric motor between the engine and the transmission, the main part of an electric motor is eAssist which replaces the alternator. It is also located in the same place.

2011

A four-cylinder that does not take itself for a six … Buick LaCrosse 2012

On the road, the LaCrosse eAssist exhibits the behavior of a car … with a four-cylinder 2.4-liter. Strong acceleration, we’d have a little more juice under the pedal, but when you take into account the relatively high weight of the vehicle, it is not dramatic. The contribution of the electrical system is very transparent and it must follow the graphical dashboard to see what happens under the hood. Even when you release the brake pedal after a complete stop, the activation of the engine is perfectly cast.

Models with eAssist will not spare tire for obvious reasons of weight. It is replaced by a compressor and a liquid filling. Speaking of tires, those fitted LaCrosse eAssist 2012 are Michelin Energy Saver A / S exclusive. All in all, the eAssist adds only six kilos in LaCrosse 2011.

2012-Buick-LaCrosse-3

EAssist technology seemed to point, but the marketing strategy surrounding his arrival we puzzling … In Canada, there will be no regular 2.4-liter version. Anyone choose the four-cylinder will be entitled to eAssist, which is not bad news. However, prices advanced by General Motors announce the unveiling LaCrosse eAssist about $ 1000 more expensive than a LaCrosse equipped with a V6. Of course, the fuel consumption will be somewhat less, but more potential buyers will probably be more tempted by a heavy V6 a four-cylinder, also attended as it is.

And on the road? Buick LaCrosse 2012

The chassis is robust and suspension, even if they are genetically gifted for comfort, provide nevertheless a ride that will satisfy traditional Buick buyers. By cons, that the direction of the LaCrosse eAssist or not, is a surgical precision fall within the turlupinade pure and simple. The brakes do a decent job and even if decelerations are generating energy in the battery, the pedal feel is almost identical to that of a conventional version. Only very sensitive feet notice a small difference.

Volkswagen CC A Project Of Ambition

It is not easy for a manufacturer like Volkswagen, whose philosophy is the “people’s car” to work in the field of large luxury sedans. Despite its appearance of Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen CC 2013 is far from offering the prestige and level of finishes that offer upscale rivals. However, in terms of style, we can say that the German manufacturer to frankly successful lines of its large sedan. Forces Volkswagen CC 2013 lies in its modern engines and precise handling.
Volkswagen CC 2013 displays a ined shape and dimensions, to say the least, impressive. Despite all, the interior is rather banal in its finish and less spacious than it suggests. It is mostly twin engines of DC saving it for possible retirement. However, Volkswagen offers no diesel engine for its large sedan, which, in my opinion, would have allowed the latter to be more successful.
Volkswagen CC 2013

This is unfortunate

From its basic version, the Volkswagen CC 2013 shows a base price of around $ 36,000. so imagine in his final version, it has a few options. Early versions of the CC worth considering. In contrast, the more expensive versions say a little too much in my opinion, especially more than $ 45,000 unit.

Values measures Volkswagen CC 2013

Volkswagen do not go lightly to introduce consumers to the Volkswagen CC 2013. The latter has, in its version and a low, powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. With 200 horsepower and 207 foot-pounds of torque, it allows the large sedan from the German manufacturer from 0-100 km / h in just 7.5 seconds. Besides the CC is one of the few cars in its class to be fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, which makes his behavior all the more interesting. In addition, it shows a consumption of 9.7L/100km city and 6.6L/100km on the highway, which is well below the average.
Volkswagen CC 2013

For style and pleasure Volkswagen CC 2013

Volkswagen CC 2013 offers one of the most beautiful bodies in its class. In addition, its mechanical properties are reliable, robust and surprisingly athletic. However, where things get tough, it’s at the cabin. It is less spacious than it seems. In addition, the rear seats are very poorly designed. Volkswagen CC 2013 shows a base price ridiculously high if you want my opinion, especially with regard to the more expensive versions. Nevertheless, it remains a good alternative to large luxury sedans.

2012 Nissan Micra

2012 Micra Nissan is in the context of Asian competitors such as Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto and Suzuki Splash move. We have now driven the Japanese compact car with manual transmission and more powerful than the two single petrol Tekna package to the sample.

2012 Nissan Micra

Exterior and Interior
Since March 2011, the date, the only five-door edition offered commercially. The only around 3.8 meters long fourth generation of women in India is favorite from the band, driving less idiosyncratic, to suggest a total of more pleasing. Their processing works befitting for a tiny tot of this kind with a lot of plastic and a headliner that one should not push too hard. Even the back is still all Nissan Micra: View of the front end of this wee. lots of space available. Fit into the luggage compartment from 265 to just over 1130 liters, which can easily expand the storage capacity. The operation is easy.

Engine & Environment
In the tested three-cylinder, it is a by no means excessively noisy 1.2-liter with 72/98 kW / hp. The compressor-charged direct injection makes the little Japanese fast pace of just under 180. In our case, a very neat full five-speed manual transmission has delegated the power to the wheels, this alternative does a CVT continuously variable automatic. In conjunction with the fuel-saving Serien-Stopp/Start-Funktion found in the consumption mix in a little over l so at least in the data sheet.

Dynamics & Safety
Even the city-and short-haul routes out of this spontaneously responsive Nissan Micra still pushes forward rather quickly. Even the standard chassis overall performance of the lightweight front-wheel drive coupler is very tight. The steering could still give more direct feedback. The brakes are working properly. Nissan Micra: Into the luggage compartment from 265 to fit into something over 1,130 liters. Stability control, side and head airbags and seat-holders already carry for the standard occupant protection.

Series & Specials
The test model is available in three equipment. The Tekna package as most are about Bluetooth interface, including hands-free, on-board computer, Fahrlichautomatik, cruise control, including limiter, climate control, navigation, CD/MP3-Radio, Parkquide with parking sensors rear, rain sensor, leather steering wheel, glass roof, roof spoiler and 15-inch alloy wheels included. Too bad that the steering column is height adjustable.

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet

  • Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, 2013

The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 unites the excellent performance and efficiency of the new generation of the 911 Carrera with the dynamic benefits of the latest version of the active all-wheel drive system PTM (Porsche Traction Management). The typical Porsche all-wheel drive with rear-focused layout in this latest 911 version guarantees maximum vehicle dynamics on a wide variety of road surfaces and in all weather conditions. The new 911 Carrera 4 models deliver traction and dynamic performance the power of four.

The new all-wheel drive 911 is being launched on the market in four versions - as the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Carrera 4S and each as Coupé and Cabriolet. They sport the same traits as the rear-wheel drive versions: their lightweight body design, suspension, engines and gearboxes are identical, the only exception being modifications related to the all-wheel drive. This means that despite a higher level of engine and driving performance, all four models consume significantly less fuel than the previous models; total savings for individual versions are as much as 16 per cent. In addition, the new 911 Carrera 4 is up to 65 kg lighter in weight.

The most distinct identifying feature of the 911 with all-wheel drive is still the wide rear section: compared to the two-wheel drive 911 Carrera models, the rear wheel housings each extend further outward by 22 mm, and the rear tyres are each ten millimetres wider. The traditional red light band that connects the two taillights has also taken on a new form.

Porsche Intelligent Performance: high levels of driving performance, low fuel consumption
All new models have a 7-speed manual gearbox as standard, and the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox is available as an option. The 911 Carrera 4 Coupé with 350 hp (257 kW) can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.7 s) and reach a top speed of up to 285 km/h (Cabriolet: 282 km/h), depending on equipment features. Fuel consumption with PDK is 8.6 l/100 km (CO2 203 g/km) for the Coupé and 8.7 l/100 km (CO2 205 g/km) for the Cabriolet.

The Coupé and Cabriolet of the 911 Carrera 4S each have a 3.8-litre rear-mounted boxer engine that produces 400 hp (294 kW); this enables acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.3 seconds) and a top speed of 299 km/h (Cabriolet: 296 km/h) with a suitable equipment configuration. Fuel consumption values with PDK are 9.1 l/100 km (CO2 215 g/km) for the Coupé and 9.2 l/100 km (CO2 217 g/km) for the Cabriolet.

New: all-wheel drive indicator, Porsche Active Safe, sliding glass sunroof, extended Sport Chrono pack
In the new Porsche 911 Carrera 4, a new menu in the instrument cluster informs the driver how the PTM all-wheel drive is currently distributing engine power. In addition, with the debut of the 911 Carrera all-wheel drive models Porsche is introducing the optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to the entire model range, which controls distance to traffic ahead and vehicle speed. When ordered with PDK, the ACC system adds the safety function Porsche Active Safe (PAS), which helps to prevent front-end collisions. In addition, Porsche offers a new sliding glass sunroof as an optional feature for the 911 Carrera Coupé. Driving 911 cars with a manual gearbox and Sport Chrono pack can now be even sportier: In Sport Plus mode, the system automatically double-declutches during downshifts.

The new all-wheel drive models replace a very successful previous generation, of which a total of about 24,000 units have been sold since 2008. This represents a 34 per cent share of total sales of second generation 997 models. This previous generation launched with one of the greatest development steps in powertrain technology that the 911 with all-wheel drive ever made: new were the engines with direct petrol injection, Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox and electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (PTM). In July 2011, Porsche crowned the model series with the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, whose 3.8-litre engine was boosted to 408 hp (300 kW).

World premiere at the 2012 Paris International Motor Show
The new Porsche 911 Carrera with all-wheel drive will make its first public appearance at the 2012 Paris International Motor Show. The new 911 models will launch at the end of 2012. Prices in Germany are 97,557 euros for the 911 Carrera 4 Coupé and 110,290 euros for the Cabriolet. The 911 Carrera 4S costs 112,313 euros as a Coupé and 125,046 euros as a Cabriolet. All prices include 19 per cent VAT and country-specific features.

Peugeot 207 1 4 m play Hatchback A worthy little French number

Please note this review is of the Peugeot 207 1.4 without the m-play option. (Socket for MP3 players)

Front end looks a bit gawky but the rest of the car is fine.

When I think of French cars I think of stylish, fashionable & chic designs & from expierence of working on them, I think of shoddy build quality & unreliability. Put it simply, they dont have the solid build quality of German cars & no where near the reliability of Japanese cars. However, put them all in a showroom together & it will be the French car that gets all the attention, they have so much showroom appeal.
If there is a back to front, upside down way of doing things the French will do it & call it flair & imagination, for any poor sod who has to fix them, French cars are simply downright awkward to work on.
I will put all these prejudices behind me while I review the Peugeot 207, my partner for five recent days whilst I was in Ireland working. The new 207 is the successor to the old 206, a popular & good looking car often among the best sellers in the UK.

Not an ideal position to mount door mirror but you get used to it.
Looks are a subjective matter but on seeing this silver 1.4 207 for the first time I have to say it didnt do much for me. I dont like the gawky looking front end which looks like a big plastic mouth; it doesnt blend it with the rest of the cars looks. From the side & rear it looks fine but from some angles it doesnt impress me much.
Its standard of finish does, the doors close with a nice solid thunk & not a clang like many modern cars. The difference between a thunk & a clang is very important with car doors. As an example a large bank vault door would close with a nice solid thunk but a shed door with garden tools hanging on the other side would close with a clang.
The gaps around the 207s doors were even & tight & the paintwork finish was exceptionally good. The key provided allows for keyless entry if required, the key portion can be stored within the plastic housing & press a little button (like a flick knife) & the key blade pops out. There are two buttons on the key housing to lock & unlock the car.

Chrome edged dials & aluminium effect dash not a good mix,
radio CD control can be seen close to steering wheel.
As I sat inside for the first time I was amazed at the amount of room for such a small car. Five adults could sit in a 207 without much problems as long as they werent 6.5" basketball players, there is ample shoulder & head room with the rear leg room just a little tight.
Finding a comfortable driving position is another matter, the seats at first appear to be comfortable but getting a perfect driving position is much harder. The drivers seat features a bar at the front base to slide the seat forward & back with a side mounted lever to raise & lower the seat & another handle to recline the backrest. Once that is set, you can raise or lower the steering column but I found that my legs were perfect with the pedals but I needed to stretch my arms excessively to hold the steering wheel.
Just great if you are a chimpanzee with longer arms but for a normal 510" human, its not so good. On top of that the footrest next to the clutch pedal is so wide that my size 10 shoes often caught the footrest when depressing the clutch pedal.

If thats not bad enough, the front windows have small quarter windows similar to what is fitted to most rear doors on modern cars. It means the two door mirrors that look like an after thought, have been fitted closer to the middle of the door to avoid an obstruction from the quarter window pillars (see picture). It means that when you are driving the car you need to look further back than normal to view the door mirrors, not so good at speed or in bad weather.
Once driving the car for a few hours it became apparent that the drivers seat had very little lumbar support for the base of my back which started to ache. This seldom happens when I drive other cars.
Inside the 207 the general fit & finish is impressive, the distance from the drivers head to the bottom of the windscreen is about one metre. It means that you dont see the front corners of the car sitting in a normal position which may put off some potential buyers,
The dash is large to say the least but made from a rather nice soft feel material. The dials in front of the driver look quite cool with their chrome outer bezels but in certain light the dials attract lections & look a bit odd next to the fake aluminium effect on the centre & outer dash fittings.
A large centre section of the dash is wasted for a small display showing time, outside temperature, radio display & milometer along with a trip meter. Why cant it be fitted in front of the drivers view beside the main dials? There is also a rather OTT display of seat belt reminders for each passenger when they are seated. Rather unnecessary when a chime or buzzer would suffice.

There are plenty of odd shaped cubby holes around the cabin, what looks a large glove box is actually a rather feeble effort with the fuse box behind. To make amends, the door bins are large & many of the cubby holes are lined in rubber to stop items falling around. Also inside is a rather good quality radio CD with decent sized buttons & a steering column mounted control for volume & switching channels, its hard to find at first tucked behind the steering wheel (see picture).
Start the car up & as soon as you move off the doors automatically lock a handy feature to stop car jackers & thieves stealing goods from your car when parked at traffic lights.
The clutch travel is quite high before the clutch bites; it takes a while to get used to it as does the slightly light steering. Power steering is good for tight manoeuvring but this is a just a tad too light for me.
The 1.4 litre engine is brisk & reasonably quiet at most speeds, it recorded 38.9mpg during my brief five day spell according to the on board trip computer.

One disappointing feature of the 207 was the brakes, they are just too sensitive. Even light application would send you through the windscreen if you werent belted up, it makes driving smoothly difficult until you get used to them. The car handles well & always feels safe & secure on twisted corners; at speeds the steering does feel more positive & not so light.

For such a small car the boot is quite large & easy to load, two cut outs on the inside of the tailgate assist closing. The tailgate closes without much effort with another solid thunk.
Under the bonnet the usual weekly checks on oil, water etc are easily accessed & painted yellow for easy identification.
Some good points, when you start the car up & the outside temperature is low you get a warning of ice risk, this may just save someone belting down the road & hitting black ice one frosty morning. Also a neat little coin holder which is lined is situated in the front doors close to the door pull, if on the continent you are continually using coins for toll booths they can hold a few coins to save time rummaging through your trouser pockets or handbags at the booths.
Less impressive is the bonnet release, the French have decided not to move it to the opposite side to suit UK drivers & you have to stretch over to the passengers side to release the bonnet. However you have to open the passengers door before you release it as the handle is obstructed by the door. When you pull it, it has a rather vague & brittle feel about it.

The Peugeot 207 is not perfect but is still worthy of a look, its not for me simply because I dont like its looks, or the compromised driving position or those dreadful brakes. In the back of my mind is the fact that Peugeot have still got to resolve many reliability issues as their products still come out close to bottom in most customer satisfaction surveys.

Basic technical & equipment details:
1360cc (1.4) 4-cylinder engine
Uses unleaded fuel
5-speed gearbox
Urban fuel consumption 33.6mpg
Mixed driving 56.5mpg
Emissions 150g/km
