Creating Sound Vibration Machines Diesel More Smooth with Easy Way

Diesel engine is known as an efficient engine and Fun to Drive (modern Diesel engine air-ECU) because of large torque characteristics since RPM rendah.Hanya just sound & vibration Diesel engines are generally more pronounced than Gasoline engine. But with proper treatment we can actually reduce noise & vibration Diesel engine with quite significant. Several methods that can be done include:

1. Increase Diesel Fuel Lubricating Power (Solar) Power lubricating diesel (Diesel Fuel) is very important, where Diesel Fuel should be able to provide good lubrication to the pump injection diesel engine. For injection pumps in diesel engines is like a compressor which require lubrication for the piston-piston & plunger-plungernya, for piston compressor work is lighter, the plunger-plunger to work more optimally. Power Diesel Fuel Lubricating sometimes be less than the maximum if the Diesel Fuel contaminated with other substances such as water / kerosene / gasoline or if it gets Paraffin Diesel Fuel with a rather low figure. So to increase the power of Diesel Fuel Lubricating can be done by adding a fuel additive that is lubricant / lubrication or use good-quality Diesel Fuel additive containing complete. Lubricating Power Diesel Fuel injection well to the pump will help reduce the workload of the engine in turning the pump injection.

2. Increased Cetane Number (CN) Increasing cetane number with Cetane Booster or use Diesel fuel with a high CN (51-54) will also help improve the combustion process in which one effect will also make the sound & vibration Diesel engines become more ined. With a higher cetane number will make the combustion process becomes more instant alias reduce the length of the combustion process or the so-called Self Ignition Delay (SID). SID is what helped make vibration and noise becomes larger Diesel engines, SID due to the use of Diesel Fuel with low CN (48 or lower).

3. PurgingPembersihan Injector & Nozzle make more perfect carburetion, so that more optimal combustion, influence the vibration machine (See Purging previous article).

4. Replacement Filters Solar In TeraturFilter diesel that has been lightly compressed, will automatically charge participate in the working pump to suck fuel injection, so that diesel fuel filter should be replaced regularly.

5. Use of Lubricant Quality

6. Diesel Engine MountingBagi car that has been aged over 3-4 years or have to travel over 70,000 km engine mounting usually start brittle and somewhat flattened, creating more engine vibration felt in the body of the car. If the engine mounting already brittle / somewhat flattened, then replace the engine mounting. (Note: The age of disposable Engine Mounting each Diesel cars are different.)

First Look 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel

Clean diesel is the saving grace for Jeep.

Chrysler Group LLC. chose the 2013 North American International Auto Show as the launchpad for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. What makes this Grand Cherokee special is the 3.0 liter V6 diesel that reintroduces Jeep to the world of diesel.

Diesel has been the dirty, hardworking cousin of gasoline in the United States since its birth in 1897. Sooty tail pipe emissions and noisy clatter meant being relegated to trucking and a small niche consumer who was willing to sacrifice for more efficiency. Now that fuel prices are going up and CAFE standards are looming just a little over a decade away diesel is being pushed to the forefront.

Diesel and Jeep should go hand and hand. Jeep isnt a car brand at all. Jeep only make SUVs and CUVs. These vehicles need to be capable and most of the time that means sacrificing fuel efficiency. Diesel offers the best chance right now of maintaining that capability of an SUV while meeting future fuel economy standards.

3.0 Liter V6 EcoDiesel Engine

Four cylinders just arent going to cut it in the full size SUV market. Grand Cherokee buyers are going to expect confident performance from their vehicle and enough torque to get them out of any situation. Jeeps choice for this job is a 3.0 liter MultiJetII turbodiesel engine. This engine is related to the VM Motori engine offered in Grand Cherokees overseas, but this version is updated with MultiJet injection technology as well as a Secondary Catalyst Reduction (SCR) system to reduce emissions further.

Jeep engineers have rated the 3.0 liter EcoDieseel at 240 horsepower at 3600 rpm and a massive 420 lb-ft at 2000 rpm which is 30 more lb-ft than the 5.7 liter Hemi® V-8 that is also available.

8-speed Automatic Transmission

Jeep CEO Mike Manley stressed that Jeep is focused on the entire power-train package. Jeep didnt want to saddle their new diesel with the antiquated 5-speed automatic in the current generation Grand Cherokee. Now the Grand Cherokee comes standard with a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic that will further increase fuel economy. For Grand Cherokee use the transmission has been optimized for quick shifts and smoothness.  For tough off-roading situations and deep snow a crawling gear ratio of 44.1:1 is attainable with the two-speed transfer case. These are serious specs that add extra capability for those looking to take their Grand Cherokee places the old Grand Cherokee couldnt.

If all this technical talk is boring you then we can get straight to the point. All this technology combines to make the Grand Cherokee more fuel efficient. Jeep estimates that the 4X2 Grand Cherokee will travel 30 miles on one gallon of fuel. Combined fuel economy for the the 4X2 model is 25.5 miles per gallon. If you need 4X4, which you probably do, you can expect 28 miles per gallon on the highway and 24 miles per gallon combined. For maximum fuel efficiency an Eco Mode is available that changes the shift schedule, fuel cut-off and engine response that adds a theoretical 6 percent in efficiency.

Being able to tow is also important to Grand Cherokee owners. Maximum payload is a specialty of the diesel engine and the 3.0 liter EcoDiesel offers 7,400 pounds of towing capability. Stepping up to the V-8 is no longer necessary to get a capable weekend tow vehicle.

For too long now diesel has not been taken seriously. Poor consumer perception warped by horrible diesel engines of the past has blinded consumers from the truth about clean diesel. Diesel engines are more capable, more versatile and better suited to the driving style of most drivers on the road today. Hopefully Jeep has put a gem of an engine rather than the scraps from Europe with SCR strapped on to achieve federal emission standards.

Diesel can save the full size SUV it just takes excellent diesel engines and a company that will stand behind diesel as a fuel for the future. Unless there is a dedicated effort to inform the public on what makes diesel special it will certainly fall flat. Diesel deserves a chance in the United States and consumers need to finally work through their prejudices. Jeep just might be the brand that does that.

New Chevrolet Cruze diesel to debut at Chicago Auto Show

General Motors Co.s Chevrolet brand will reveal the new Chevrolet Cruze diesel model during a Feb. 7 news conference at the Chicago Auto Show.

GM spokesman Terry Rhadigan confirmed Monday that the Detroit automaker will debut the Cruze diesel, expected out later this year, at the Chicago show. The Cruze diesel is one of 13 new or updated models Chevrolet will roll out in 2013.

GM plans to start production of the Cruze diesel in the second quarter, with vehicles hitting showrooms in April or May, a source close to the plan said Monday, asking for anonymity because GM has not announced when production of the new Cruze will begin.

General Motors Co. North America President Mark Reuss said in mid-December that GM would be "putting the Cruze out here (in the) first quarter."

"Im thrilled with the car," Reuss told journalists last month in Pontiac. "The cars going to be great."

Reuss also hinted that the company is interested in offering more diesel-powered options in the United States.

"Theres a place for diesels here. Theres a place for diesels in the future, as well," he said in December. "At the end of the day, its still the most efficient thermodynamics of combustion that we have. The mass piece of it in the U.S. has been problematic. But now were beginning to produce clean diesels. We need some stability in the quality of fuel across the country, which that would help us calibrate and bring to market more effectively."

The Cruze diesel will be built at GMs Lordstown Assembly Plant near Youngstown, Ohio.

In August, GM announced it was investing $200 million into the Lordstown plant and $20 million at a metal center in Parma, Ohio, for tooling and equipment for a new Cruze model. The automaker planned to produce the current generation of the Cruze at Lordstown through model year 2014.

Diesel sales among all light-duty cars and trucks rose about 25 percent to 125,000 units in 2012, up from 100,000 in 2011.

Many new diesel models will be introduced over the next two years, including a diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Editorial SkyActiv D Helping the Future of Diesel

If you follow me on Twitter (@talipa2012) you have probably figured out that I am a big fan of the diesel engine. Since 1897 the clattering diesel engine has been powering everything from automobiles to electric generators and everything in between. Diesel is the preferred fuel of choice for much of the world. Only in the United States is diesel seen as a less appealing alternative to the less efficient gasoline engine. Mazda wants to change all of this with the introduction of its SkyActiv-D engine.

The diesel engine runs completely on compression for ignition of its fuel. Regardless of this Mazda decided to drop the compression of their diesel engine to a scant 14.0:1, the lowest in the world. This engine is the first major rethinking of the diesel engine in over a century. The benefits that come from designing a diesel in this fashion may be the key to diesels future.

The video posted above gives most of the technical information on the new SkyActiv-D, but I thought that I might elaborate on it further. The key advantage of a low compression diesel is the fact that it puts much less stress on all engine components. Mazda has created a diesel that now shares much more in common with its gasoline powered cousins.

The SkyActiv-D is one of the first diesels to be built completely out of aluminum. This saved a total of 55 pounds in the block alone. The new engine revs to 5200 rpm which is quite an impressive number for a diesel powered engine. Another key factor is that it is cheaper to produce and doesnt require a DEF(diesel exhaust fluid) after treatment system that seems to be the bane of every diesel in the United States.

What this means for diesel enthusiast like me is an engine that sounds like its going to be a blast to drive that meets emissions in a very simple way and wont require monthly top offs of DEF. The SkyActiv-D may just be the key to breaking United States car buyers of their love affair with gasoline. Mazda has a love affair with ZoomZoom. Hopefully SkyActiv-D can partner this philosophy with fuel efficiency. It just might be the most important development in diesel since 1897.

Diesel engines are going to play a key role in reducing consumption of foreign oil. Unlike gasoline engine, diesel engines can easily make the switch from petroleum diesel to biodiesel and other fuels. With the ability to make diesels out of the same materials as their gasoline counterparts there is no longer an excuse from car makers that diesels cost too much to manufacture. Drivers like me who want an enjoyable car with excellent fuel economy are extremely limited in their choices. Mazda has opened up a new avenue for the diesel engine and have made an engine that I think just might appeal to American buyers on the fence about dipping into the world of diesel.

2014 Chevy Cruze diesel unveiling expected to take Chicago Auto Show spotlight

General Motors Co. is expected to be one of the standouts this week at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.

Following an array of debuts at the 2013 North American international Auto Showlast month in Detroit, GM will unveil its 2014 Chevrolet Cruze diesel.

Little has been released about the vehicle, but analysts expect it to grab a lot of the spotlight at the show, which starts Thursday with two Press Preview days.

“It’s a big deal that Chevy is bringing a diesel vehicle to the lineup in the United States,” said Brandy Schaffels, TrueCar.com senior editor and content manager. “These tend to be higher performance cars that are giving us diesel powertrains for fuel economy and performance.

“It’s really interesting to see a diesel engine come to a mainstream consumer vehicle.”

Diesels currently represents less than 3 percent of all U.S. sales. However, some companies expect that percentage to grow to 10 percent by 2020.

Robert Bosch, a global multibillion-dollar engineering and electronics automotive leader, anticipates more than 50 light-vehicle diesel models to be announced or released by 2017 in North America, including 22 new models in 2013.

European automakers – particularly Volkswagen – have dominated the diesel market in the U.S., which has increased from 235,500 units in 2008 to 301,300 in 2012, according toEdmunds.com.

“What diesel needs is more exposure in different brands,” said Jessica Caldwell, Edmunds.com senior analyst and director of pricing and industry analysis. “Chevy coming out, being a non-European car, in a volume segment with the volume car, I definitely think it can make more of an impact.”

Caldwell said Chevrolet and Volkswagen aren’t traditionally direct competitors, but with the limited amount of passenger car diesel options, that could change.

Excluding luxury vehicles, such as Audi and Mercedes-Benz, VW is the only automaker to offer a strictly diesel passenger vehicle in the U.S. since 2008, when Chrysler offered a Grand Cherokee diesel, which it will once again start to offer later this year.

Diesel-powered vehicles have remained a niche market in the U.S. for decades due to consumer perception, pricing and the fuel being more expensive than standard gasoline, according to analysts. Diesels cost about $2,000 to $3,000 more on average than a standard gasoline engine.

American automakers have remained reluctant to build anything but diesel-version pickup trucks and heavy-duty vans.

But now, “clean diesels” are 30 percent more fuel-efficient, produce lower CO2 emissions and maintain a higher residual value compared to traditional gasoline engines.

“People that buy them tend to know a lot about the automotive industry,” Caldwell said. “I think for a lot of commuters, diesel makes a lot of sense.”

The Chicago Auto Show, celebrating its 105th year, is open to the public from Feb. 9-18 at the McCormick Center, 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive. Dozens of vehicles from the world’s top automakers are expected to debut during the show’s press preview days Feb. 7 and Feb. 8.
