Saddled with a rather pedantic 2.4L four cylinder engine the Buick Verano has been in dire need of the promised turbo charge engine. Buick has finally released details on the engine that will power the compact Verano. That engine will be the latest generation of the 2.0 liter direct-injected turbocharged Ecotec engine that debuted in the 2011 Buick Regal Turbo.
Buick says that the Verano turbo will hit dealers in the fourth quarter of this year as a 2013 model.
This is the engine I have been waiting for. The 2.4 liter naturally aspirated engine offered modest performance and smooth operation, but I wanted the Verano to have more. Buick has been pushing the idea of "intelligent performance" across the entire line-up. This engine falls right in line with that idea. Smooth linear power delivery is one aspect of this engine, but it will mostly likely also beat its EPA estimates handily in the hands of a driver like me. Efficient engines dont always have to be saddled with paltry horsepower numbers. I cant wait to drive one.
The 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet Edition follows a vastly different approach. Available as a coupe and cabriolet, it comes only with rear-wheel drive and the standard 345-hp engine. The 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet has a base price of $82,250.
The Black Edition coupe carries a $3500 premium over the barest of all 911s, the 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet sticker of $92,250 represents a $2500 uptick. The real important about the next generation of the 911 series concern the upgrades under the skin as we’ll see a revamped platform with wider tracks and a longer wheelbase along with a new engine lineup.
The 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet will benefit from ugraded six-cylinder boxer units boasting the latest technological advancements including direct injection and start/stop systems for gains in power as well as reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet has finally made its official debut, and although we’ve known what it was going to look like for several weeks now, the information released today tells the full story and it’s a very exciting one.
